Francey Petty has lived in Mont Del since February 1976, when she and her young family moved into their new house designed by her.    Having just left Harrington Institute of Interior Design in Chicago, she fulfilled her first major assignment!  Her then husband, James Petty, was the minister of Altamesa Church of Christ for 10 years.

Francey had a small design business until 1980, when she started Balloons Fantastique (on West Berry Street over 30 years until she closed those doors in 2016 to operate out of her home, with others fulfilling the orders).  It still continues to operate. BF specializes in small and large events, with clients such as TCU, TCC, UTA, hospitals, banks, corporations, and many individuals and other entities.   You will perhaps see creations unlike anything you have seen when you view her Special Events page on the website:  http://balloonsfantastique.com/localservices/arches.htm

During those years, she also helped create and partner in a manufacturing business (Direct Fire Technical) which made Hot Water Generators for commercial and industrial use.  She also assisted her son in starting and operating Loafin Joe’s Hot Subs in City View which was there for 10 years.  Then in more recent years, she realized her varied business background and enjoyment of talking to people, was perfect for being a realtor, so she got her license and went on board with Coldwell Banker Brokerage on Hulen Street.

In recent years, she revived her passion on the piano for classical music.   After a couple of years practicing when she could find time, she realized she had accomplished more than she had thought possible at her age, considering she had not played for several decades.   She started playing for friends in her home, eventually posting her recorded music on YouTube.  She decided to re-learn the Bumble Boogie with which she had won a talent contest in high school and is always a crowd pleaser, mixed in with her classical selections.

You may wonder where writing fits into all the above?  While she is not a professional writer, she excelled in English and took extra courses in college over the years and eventually joined two writing groups.   Much of her writing was for business needs and editing for others, but she has penned a book about a difficult period of her life which she chose not to publish.
