Crime Prevention Message

Dear friends, Mont Del has always been a safe area, but its affluence can attract the attention of those who would rather take from others than earn for themselves.  Constant vigilance and common sense can go a long way to protecting our personal property.  Our neighbor Tommy T. would like to share a message from our new Crime Prevention Office:

Below is a synopsis of a recently reported diversion burglary. Please disseminate this information to residents in your neighborhood. As always, be careful with anyone coming uninvited to your home and immediately report any suspicious activity. Any employee of the City of Benbrook or of a public utility company should be wearing a distinctive uniform with identification.

On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 shortly after 6:00pm, a resident in the south end of the Westpark neighborhood was approached by a white male in his 30’s with shaggy brown hair wearing a ball cap, blue jeans, and an orange vest. The man had been sitting in a small, burgundy pickup with faded paint on the sides. The man said he was with code enforcement and was there to inspect trees. He was joined by a tall, heavy-set Hispanic male wearing a gray shirt and pants. The men were carrying handheld radios. One kept the resident occupied while the other left them in the backyard. Within a few minutes, both left in the vehicle and the resident found someone had made unauthorized entry to her residence. Several possessions were stolen from inside.

If anyone has any information about this incident or these subjects, please encourage them to contact me.
